Comment:

 Actually I'm unsure how journal activation should behave exactly from an
 UI point of view.

 Eben, afaik the journal window should not be displayed on startup but the
 icon should be displayed in the donut. We have two alternatives for
 activation:

 1 Start the Journal with the shell and just keep it hidden until the user
 click
 2 Actually start the activity only when the user click on the donut icon
 and animate it like any other activity while it's starting.

 Both are non-trivial, that's why I want to clarify before implementing.
