 Adding Tomeu to this for his advice...

 For adding photos to the clipboard, we use this call:

 {{{
 #get a gtk.gdk.Pixbuf...
 pixbuf = self._get_selected_pixbuf()
 #stick it on the clipboard...
 gtk.Clipboard().set_image(pixbuf)
 }}}

 Is there a better way to do this?
