#2523: Need faster feedback on activity "stop"
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------

 Priority: normal | Milestone: Untriaged

When the stop button is pressed, thus "closing" the activity instance,
there seems to be a noticeable delay during which the activity UI freezes
before it actually terminates and the user is returned to the Home screen.
I would much prefer that the return to the home screen happened
immediately upon pressing the button. At this point, the icon
representing the activity which was just "stopped" should be rendered as a
gray stroke (similar to how it first entered the ring, but not pulsing).
At this point, it won't be possible to re-enter the activity; The only
option remaining in its rollover palette will be "force stop" (or whatever
we call it), in the rare case that it freezes in finalization.

In any case, the immediate response will make the system feel snappier
even if it still takes as long to close the activity, and it will allow
the user to locate the next activity they're looking for in the ring
during that time which would otherwise be wasted waiting to return to
 Home.
