Comment:

 I spoke extensively with jg, kim, and marco on this issue, and we all
 agreed that no automatic rotation should be done by the system.  This
 decision should be left completely to the activities (which, for trial 2,
 are going to ignore it).  Nonetheless, we don't want to confuse matters in
 trial 2 by auto-rotating.
