 I think we should refrain from making arbitrary limitations on characters
 if we can.  Activity names need to be localizable, and as such will most
 likely span a pretty wide set of unicode characters.  It seems kind of
 arbitrary to cut out U+0038, and as soon as we eliminate one, wouldn't we
 also want to eliminate U+2620 and so on.  It seems like a slippery slope,
 and I'd opt for supporting it all for simplicity (assuming it's also
 simple enough to do so).
