 Chris, Bernie, Richard: what do we do about this one?

 Fix, postpone?  to be honest, I don't understand the consequences of the
 xorg plugin not being loaded?

 The screen takes up to 1 watt, btw; having the screen dim (and then turn
 off entirely shortly thereafter) is a major power savings.
