It's cumbersome to always have to go to the donut to switch between
activities, in particular when copying and pasting between activities.
Alt-N and Alt-P help a little, but are not discoverable (they also always
cycle through all instances). I am always tempted to click the activity
icon in the frame to switch to a different activity.
So why not make that activity bar switch to the activity if it was already
started? I'd argue that usually, one instance of an activity is enough. If
we want to open a second instance that could be solved in various ways.
For example, when we click an activity icon while the activity is already
the current one, make a new instance. Also, alt-click could always launch
a new instance. And maybe provide an icon in the activity toolbar.
And while we're at that, why not make that activity icon in the frame a
drop target? Or at least dragging over that icon could switch to the
(already running) activity.
