Comment:

 Let's try it out in "selection-gray," since that color was specifically
 chosen to be easily readable within a text field with black text.  The
 only obvious reason not to do this is that it will make the selection and
 the loading bar look rather similar, the only differentiation being the
 rounded ends on the loader.  Still, it's much better than black, and the
 frequency with which the URL will be edited while loading is low.
