 When the machine boots, the Journal is the only activity in the ring.  As
 such, it should be treated as the currently active activity.  This means
 that it should be highlighted in the activity ring, and pressing the
 activity view button (rather than clicking on the Journal icon itself)
 should take you into it.  The null state where no activity is active
 should never happen.
