Comment:

 usually when this happens though, NM times out the association because the
 driver doesn't deliver an association even fast enough (the timeout is
 like 5 or 6 seconds though, and it's just and adhoc join/start so it
 shouldn't take 5 or 6 seconds).  I think we really need to get this fixed
 to at least see if that's exacerbating the association event issue.  Or,
 to determine that this is _not_ a blocker for trial 2, I'd need a test
 firmware that I can test out to see if I get the timed out association
 stuff even with the test firmware.
