 The buttons are fixed in upstream commit
 fc92dc2fa086317c091ee34fd3cf836d13a3436c you'll also want
 b0fbca5136d391e191739331ef9381ba20786e20 if you are going to use xrandr.
 i.e. use the latest upstream master :-)

 The brightness will dim after 5 seconds idle - is this what you mean? Is
 that too short?
