The idea behind the rollovers is that the panel that shows some primary
info expands to reveal more detail. This was supposed to happen with a
quick animation, but doesn't have one yet. Even so, the primary content
should move as little as possible (usually not at all) when the secondary
content appears.
This means that the size & placement of the secondary palette needs to be
taken into account when the primary appears. The primary should always be
placed at the same x coordinate. It should also always be placed at the
same y coordinate, except in the one case where the secondary palette
would extend beyond the bottom of the screen, in which case it should
appear with its lower-left corner at the cursor, and then shift up so that
the secondary also has its lower-left corner at that spot when it appears.
The other detail this brings up is that of the primary palettes width. In
my early designs, the primary palette was always rendered in the width of
the secondary, so that the only change was in the vertical dimension.
This was true regardless of the length of the text in the primary palette.
I think we should try this out, because it visually links the two in a
much better way, even before we have the animation.
