 I don't understand this one...  X will take care of handling the dcon; if
 the screen isn't being used, it can use the dcon to take over display to
 save power; if the screen saver is on for a while, the screen saver
 extension is able to tell the dcon to turn off the screen entirely after
 the timeout.
