Journal is supposed to automatically mount a USB stick when it is
inserted. However, it doesn't. A USB stick icon will appear in Journal
properly, and it seems to think it has already mounted the device (since
it has the option to unmount in its context menu). But it hasn't actually
been mounted - the contents are not displayed, and if I go to the console
I find that no USB device has been mounted. I can mount and unmount it
fine from the console, but the journal's USB icon does not seem to
recognize what I'm doing in any way. If I unmount the stick from the
console, the icon remains, and still gives me the option to unmount it.

Here's the exact process I used:
 1. Insert the USB stick and open journal. A USB stick icon will have
appeared, and its context menu gives you the option to unmount. The
contents of the USB stick are not viewable.
 2. Switch to the console, and mount the USB stick with "mount /dev/sda1
 /mnt"
 3. Unmount the USB stick with "umount /mnt"
 4. Remove the USB stick from the XO.
 5. Switch back to the journal. The USB stick icon will still be there, and
still gives you the option to unmount. If you select the unmount option,
 nothing will happen.
