I think that use cases will vary, and that particular one will certainly
come up. Still, the use of color to represent the identity of individuals
is consistent throughout the UI (The latest mesh designs actually follow
this schema now, also, indicating mesh portals instead of the essid). I
think that it's a nice to keep this kind of identity, and when there are
actually very few drives available, they will probably associate first
with the teacher, and as such have an identity closely related to the
classroom in general (As they will also have the color of all activities
that the teacher initiates).
A future feature of the Journal will allow reformatting of external media.
Perhaps we can offer explicit naming/coloring of drives during the
reformat process, allowing teachers to name and color code drives based on
subject, group, or other conventions as well.
