OFW: Q2C18
Build: 478
This problem has existed since build 465. Paint, when opened, has a number
of problems. First, opening Paint simply leads to a grey screen, and adds
another space to the activity donut (a grey mesh view icon). The user is
immediately switched back to Home view. The Paint icon on the donut leads
to the grey screen when clicked, while the mesh view icon leads to the
Paint activity proper. This has been documented in #1759.
However, the problem becomes worse than that. Once Paint has been opened,
icons no longer appear on the activity donut. An empty slot on the donut
appears for them, but no image is in it, and when the empty space is
clicked, the user will NOT be returned to the corresponding activity. All
the activity icons that should have been added will appear on top of each
other at the far left of the screen. So, once this bug has occurred, the
user will never be able to return to his activity once he has tabbed out
of it. They cannot even close the activity, because activities are closed
from within now.
Steps to reproduce the bug.
1. Boot the XO.
2. Click the Paint icon on the taskbar. The Paint icon will be added to
the donut, then Paint will load a grey screen, and after a few seconds, it
will return to Home view.
3. You should see a grey mesh view icon, slightly cut off, on the far left
of your screen. There will also be an empty space on the donut, next to
the Paint activity.
4. Open another activity. Another empty space should be added to the
donut, but the activity should open properly.
5. Return to the Home view and click on the empty space that was added
when you opened the second activity. Nothing will happen.
