 Just after OFW, before root gets mounted, you'll either see
 randomly colored blocks or badly aligned text output.

 To reproduce, edit your /boot/olpc.fth and add "quiet" somewhere
 on the kernel cmd line.  Make sure OFW is not freezing DCON.
