Comment:
We have a tension here: we need to get application developers to
understand their window size and aspect ratio may change, versus wanting
to ensure things work well for the end users.
There are serious plans to try to have a screen based tablet in finite
time: if we don't remind our application developers that this can occur,
we can forget about having applications that can deal with rotation.
Retrofit is always more painful than up front design.
If the default during development is that an application must declare it
supports rotation, the developers won't even think about it.
I claim the default should be that applications must declare they can't
support rotation, rather than the other way around.
This may seem like a minor point, but I expect it may have a significant
impact on whether we have applications in hand when we do have a screen
based tablet.
