Comment:

 First: To begin with, I don't see a device driver should be logging
 applications not keeping up; it should return an indication to the
 application, not cluttering a log.

 Second: It seems to me that if an application stops grabbing frames, we
 should  turn off the camera after a short delay (I dunno how long it takes
 to start up again, but presumably not long).  This saves a bit of power
 (Lilian has started quantifying how much).
