Yes, I know how OpenWRT does it; it does it the same way that the iPAQ
does, using the tools we (the iPAQ handhelds project) developed on the
iPAQ.
To date, Blizzard had been strongly against exposing packaging at all,
particularly in the base system image. And given RPM's behavior with lots
of packages, I have (some limited) sympathy to this position.
I've been anticipating the need; Blizzard and I will continue this
argument. We do need to have a real solution here, one way or the other.
For now, Andres, I think adding the two base modules makes lots of sense
while we sort out the "what to do about tons of dongles" problem. At
least then it would be much easier to compile and manually add one
dongle's driver to an otherwise unmodified base system.
