 The problem (sticking Alt) was VERY bad this morning, as indicated above.
 Then, about noon, as I was showing my son how bad it was, it suddenly went
 into remission. It's been 4 hours and nary a stick. I didn't do anything
 in particular, other than type, and it just went away. I'm not expecting
 it to be gone forever, though :~(

 I certainly hope you hardware gurus can track this one down and work up a
 fix that doesn't require shipping and waiting. I'm well aware that
 intermittent stuff like this can be very frustrating to isolate though.
