Removing objects from an over-loaded clipboard is tedious.

Because there is no easy and quick way to clear the entire clipboard, or
to clear multiple clippings at a time, a user is likely to keep many
objects on the clipboard that are not being used, and will just wait for
them to be cleared at reboot. This, however, eats up RAM and slows the
machine down (contributing to memory-shortage crashes of activities in
certain cases, or helping to induce bug #4161).

Likewise, the user may simply not realize (or may have no way to know) how
many objects are actually on the clipboard. Scheduled or event-triggered
purges of old/large clipboard items may be advisable. Some visual
feedback telling the user how many items are on the clipboard (when
rolling over the up-and-down arrows, perhaps?) could also help.
