Comment:

 Just to be clear, the situation IS:

   The SD card does not mount automatically when inserted, but you can
 mount it by hand from the console.  After doing so, it does not show up in
 the Journal.


 I just want to clarify that the situation is NOT:

   The SD card mounts automatically when inserted, but does not show up in
 the Journal.


 Question: How/where are you mounting the SD card?

 Question: Does your formatted SD card have a "volume name"?

 I believe the auto-mounter mounts into /media/<volume_name>

 I don't know what would/should happen if the mounted card does not have a
 volume name - Perhaps the mounter makes up a name?

 I also don't know if the Journal polls /media for new mounts or if it
 receives notifications from an external program

 Sorry for sticking my nose into this ticket, but I'm actively contributing
 to #1802 and would like to find out as much about the SD mounting process
 as possible.
