 Bart,

 It was taking way too long to search for access points/school servers on
 all channels, and cycle through for local mesh.  It might take minutes to
 do a simple association.  It has nothing to do wap.

 We deliberately chose to limit the channels we run on to keep this
 multiplicative explosion in check to the most commonly used channels (you
 only get three channels without any interference in the wonderful world of
 802.11), so that local link mesh could happen without user intervention in
 finite time.
