 I experienced the same behavior with my new XO that was reported in bug
 #5146.  Moving my WAP from channel 9 to channel 1 made it visible to the
 XO, after which it worked normally.

 Assuming this is actually what's going on, I view the inability to detect
 a WAP on an odd channel as a bug---there are lots of them set there, often
 for good reasons.  Presumably the hardware is capable of a full channel
 scan.  Failing a fix, this lack of capability should at least be clearly
 documented.
