 Good points, all....

 Erik, good work on getting something to work.

 I suspect we need to do hacks, temporarily, and worry about long term at
 this date.

 I had thought that we had the Alsa library that allows multiple
 applications to get mixed (might not be useful for the Microphone, though,
 I don't know) in our builds. I don't remember its name.

 Simon, could you confirm/deny if this is the case?  And how does it deal
 with the microphone, if at all.

 Sharing the camera is an interesting problem; I don't know if it is even
 possible.  Clearly the opening of a camera device failing ought to tell an
 activity the camera is in use.
