Comment:

 This seems to be a fairly deep issue: the presenceservice sends out a
 buddy property-changed(current-activity) before sending out the activity-
 appeared signal (I believe this is what it is called). I made a patch to
 check whether the activity exists when sending out the buddy property-
 changed(current-activity) signal, but that still doesn't help because the
 validity-changed signal of the activity object still arrives a while
 later.

 Would be great if the presenceservice guys could help out with this one...
