Comment(by chihyu):

 Restarted the machine by holding down the power button, but it still kept
 rebooting. This was stopped by

 * Ctrl-Alt-F1

 * login as root

 * type `init 3`

 Tried setting the language back to English by typing

 `sugar-control-panel -s language English/USA`

 and the error message showed up:
