Comment:

 I think that the word "erase" correctly conveys the idea that the entry in
 question is going to "go away permanently," which is exactly what happens.
 I think that keeping the terminology simple regardless of the type of
 object we're erasing is fine.  If you erase it, it's gone, regardless of
 the underlying technical details of how that happens.

 I think we're too familiar with the overhead that modern UIs impose upon
 this kind of stuff...have you tried to uninstall a Windows app?  It's a
 nightmare, with an entire "app" designed just for that purpose.  On Mac
 it's a good bit easier, as you can just trash the application icon itself
 (thought some residual files may remain).  In any case, the core goal is
 simply to "erase" it anyway.
