Comment(by tomeu):

 When the datastore is requested to unmount a volume, it should clean up
 all the state associated to that mount point and _try_ to flush the data
 to the device.

 I don't know if the DS can check if the device is actually there before
 trying to flush and update the config file.

 That would avoid the two try excepts. Marco, you think we can do that
 somehow?
