 It's clearly doable.  However, it means replacing my simple number
 formatting call with a custom distance formatting function.  There are
 also some interesting localization issues. I doubt there is any standard
 way of saying "5ft 4in" in Arabic (there's barely a standard in English!).
 In fact, I expect/hope that most Arabic-speaking children have never even
 heard of these units.
