 We shouldn't be using text eg. "No preview" when there isn't a thumbnail
 for a journal entry.  We could:

 1. Simply remove the thumbnail frame completely when one doesn't exist,
 collapsing the layout verticallly giving more room for description and
 tags.  This might look slightly strange, as the list of participants could
 still appear floating to the right of where it would otherwise be.

 2. We could replace it with some other placeholder, such as "?"
 (technically speaking still text, but equally an icon), which could be
 easily localized.  This could be rendered much larger (1/3 preview height
 or so) in button-gray so it appears like a placeholder.
