#3087: Rollover scrubbing leaves "trails"

The current scrubbing implementation works pretty well, but it seems that
it can leave visual artifacts (gray rectangles) behind while the scrubbing
is going on. This doesn't seem to be a performance issue (at least not
entirely), as the gray trails disappear almost immediately when moving one
 icon at a time.

On the other hand, by moving a consistently quick but reasonable speed
across all of the activity icons, for instance, you will notice that a
gray strip gets drawn where the rollovers were, and the ''first'' item
that was rolled over retains its black hover state until the mouse comes
to a stop (briefly or otherwise). In other words, the redraw of the
screen seems to happen only when the mouse comes to rest, but might be
better happening each time a new palette is invoked via the scrubbing.
