Comment:

 Eben, what I'm asking is how we need to represent this in the user
 interface (and hence what the relative date should return). Are we going
 to represent time in the UI using always the current timezone?

 For example:

 * Create an object while in EST
 * Display the object while in EDT

 What are we going to display in this case? The EDT relative date/time?
