 Yep - #2255 addresses the "charging" issue, but there's still the fact the
 battery % rarely updates.

 I failed to reproduce the hang.  When you say the system "hangs", are you
 sure it's due to the mouse being over the battery icon, or does it happen
 even if the mouse is elsewhere, or the system is on a different view.

 Did you try Ctrl+Alt+F1(mesh) to check it wasn't just X hanging?

 Could it be a bad case of the touchpad needing recalibrating?
