Normally you can use the sugar navigation keys to temporarily leave an
activity. But not when Write has a pop-up menu waiting. With a pop-up
up, most keys other than Esc silently do nothing.
That navigation and backlight keys get eaten seems a sugar or X problem?
Not a big problem, but a "that doesn't seem quite right" oddity.
User experience: B4 with 542. Random key pressing in Write (young child
pretending to write) resulted in a seemingly hung laptop. The backlight
was turned off, and it was twilight, making it hard to see the screen and
cursor. And navigation, backlight, and mouse keys did nothing. Adult
fiddling fairly quickly resolved them problem, but it was a puzzle while
it lasted. It appears the state was created by pressing the backlight off
and right mouse buttons. ESCape would have worked, and the cause would
have been obvious but for the lack of backlight in darkness.
