Comment:

 It is indeed awful for power consumption.  We were expecting the 8388 to
 draw ~300mW when on the mesh and in "mostly-idle" mode (which it can do
 when associated), but instead it's drawing ~800mW at all times on the
 mesh, even when the host is off.  (Because there *is* no idle mode for the
 mesh, apparently the beacons are necessary, and that's how much power the
 radio uses.)

 We haven't looked at ways to bring this number down yet.  It'll be very
 high priority performance work once suspend/resume is stable.
