 The problem is not in OFW per se, but rather in the external autoupdate
 script.

 Scott's version of the autoupdate script is using an internal firmware
 command that is not present in older firmware versions.  The best way to
 handle this would be to perform the firmware update step first, thus
 ensuring that current firmware is available for the NAND update stage.
 That is a good idea for several reasons.
