Comment (by dwmw2):

 We always perform the DMA transfer to write to the flash chip immediately
 after memcpy() into the buffer.
 We suspected that there might be interaction between the CPU's dcache and
 the DMA. But adding a cache flush ('wbinvd') to the driver immediately
 before the DMA is triggered does not solve the problem.
