Comment:

 It seems not a problem related to EC.
 If you hit one direction of the dpad rapidly and repeated,
 the EC could capture every stroke without losing.
 The undesired movement more strongly triggered by dpad physical design.

 One suggestion: when playing this game, redefine the *up* and *down*
 direction key from left-side dpad to right-side game key. It means disable
 the *up* and *down* arrow key and move it's function to 'O' and 'X' game
 keys when you play.
