 The way we implement journal previews right now is to take a "screenshot"
 of the activity view. That requires the window to be visible and it's a
 bit slow. I *guess* a compositing manager could help it but I don't think
 it's on the plans for Gen1. The alternative is to have each activity use
 his own mechanism to get a preview, the downside there is pretty obvious.

 I dunno, tricky.
