 I should point out that I wasn't removing battery/AC from the laptop after
 reflashing the BIOS, and Mitch says he's lately seen some weird behavior
 when you don't do that.  So perhaps that's our problem -- we should
 especially look out for cases where some reflashes, leaves power off for >
 10 seconds, and then *still* sees the shutoff.
