 At some point, possibly soon, we should have a flag day and pull the
 temporary X bitmap font stuff out again and make people fix the apps.  If
 there's anything we shouldn't be supporting, it's apps that use the old X
 font APIs, because those apps have already shown they are not maintained
 enough to update to anything current, let alone take advantage of stuff
 we're shipping.
