 Yeah, it sounds like you're managing to trigger PT events.  Are you
 pushing down at all when the cursor jumps?  Please also try recalibrating
 the touchpad, as Jim mentioned; perhaps the sensitivity is messed up
 somehow.

 You also have the mylar sheet on the touchpad still, right?
