 Symptoms:

   * Machine was switched on for the first time without external power.
   * When the power button was pressed the green power indicator goes on,
 the screen flashed momentarily, a short click was heard from the speakers
 and then it sat there with a blank screen.
   * When the unit was switched off a click was heard from the speakers
 before the green power indicator went off
   * When the power was plugged in the orange battery charge light went on
 and rapidly (within 5 minutes) went green.
 .

 Things tried:

   * Powered on with just the battery.
   * Powered on with the battery and power connector.
   * Removed battery and power connector. Waited five minutes. Put battery
 back in. Plugged power back in. Switched unit on.
   * Removed battery and power connector. Waited five minutes. Plugged
 power back in. Switched unit on.
   * Switched unit off. Waited till battery charge indicator went from
 orange to green. Switched unit on.


 Other interesting behavior:

   * Switched unit off. Waited till battery charge indicator went from
 orange to green. Unplugged power. Switched unit on and waited. Battery
 indicator went to red after around five minutes.
