 I think something like default calculator in GNOME, would be perfect.
 "Default" view has a basic setting, like the current implementation of the
 XO calculator. In addition you can select "advanced" (which includes
 power, sqrt, etc), "Financial" and "Scientific" views.

 If kept separate, this additional functionality will not confuse anybody,
 but it will be there when needed.
