 I'd like to amend this request a little.  Instead of just dialing the
 logging down to 3, which cuts out all messages from LB, it would be nice
 if the message levels were restructured a little, so the jump from level 3
 to level 4 was not so large.

 It would be nice to have a level where LB reports its version and a few
 (four or five, say) major milestones/phases.

 As it is, 3 gets you nothing and 4 gets you a fair amount of detail.
