#519: Change Linux startup to use black on white

At the all-hands meeting on 2006-11-17, we agreed to use a white
background by default because of LCD consideration (e.g. bad pixels tend
 to be white).

The Linux startup needs to conform to that scheme.

There was some discussion on IRC last night about which scheme we actually
agreed on, so I asked Mary Lou. She said:

    Black on white

    Why:
Lower power, more readable, higher yield (means lower cost)

Subject: Black on white or white on black?

At the all-hands meeting, we made a decision about whether to prefer a
light background or a dark background. I believe that it had something
to do with lifetime and power consumption.

Can you remind me which state is the winner?
