The halt command currently (as of build185) halts the OS, but does not
power down the machine. I don't see any reason for it not to actually do
the same thing that 'poweroff' does. I've had machines in the past that,
if the software was capable of powering the system down, 'halt' would do
just that.
(Yes, I'm aware that 'halt -p' does that; the easiest thing to do would be
to alias halt='halt -p' in a shell rc script)
