 It seems like there is ''no'' curve at all at the moment, though.  Anyway,
 I'm confident that a team that can put together a laptop for $100 can
 define a curve  - or a line, or anything other than a stepwise function -
 that will make the cursor easier to control.

 I looked around online for similar attempts, and found the following:

 This patch uses the Taylor Series Expansion to define an approximation for
 the desired curve.  According to the comments, it might be a little bit
 too aggressive a curve for our purposes, but we should be able to tweak it
 by adjusting the coefficients, and could also simply scale it back with a
 multiplier.  At any rate, it's a place to start, since testing it out
 should be fairly simple; I think it's worth exploring.
